FAQ

• What is your position on safety / social standards in the companies you deal with?

Labour conditions and social standards mean a great deal to us. All suppliers in our network need to respect and adhere to the standards laid down in the ILO Convention.

• How about arranging payments internationally?

It is not our intention to make banks rich, nevertheless we support letters of credit (L/C). Bank office buildings are good enough already, no matter where you are in the world.
Having said that, we do not know you (on our first order(s)) and you do not know us, let alone you know the manufacturer we use. A Letter of Credit gives all parties that extra bit of security necessary to start long lasting and profitable relationships. Common practice in international trade, in our opinion with good reasons.

We do however arrange clearance inspections for export as well. When well documented by the buyer, inspections can offer the same security as a letter of credit. Normally the cost for the inspections are much less.

• Why do you work with contracts?

We may ask you to sign a contract making sure we will profit from our hard work of finding the best supplier for you. The main purpose of this contract is making sure companies will not do business directly after we went through all the trouble making this business possible.

• What is your arrangement with the producer in the developing country?

We will receive a small commission over the business we generate? Sometimes you deal directly with a manufacturer who will pay this commission to us. In most cases our local CoSourcer will buy the product from the manufacturer and will be selling it to you adding a small margin.

• If I have to pay you a commission it does not pay anymore to buy in a country like India. How about that?

In the first place you are seriously overrating the commissions we take. Especially if you are from a ‘Western country’ we can assure you our CoSourcer will get a rate better than you. The difference between rate you get and the rate we get is normally larger than our commission.
However, fair enough, perhaps there are cases our price would be higher than in case of direct trade. Please do concentrate on the many advantages we offer, such as, intensive guidance of the transaction, visit the production premises when needed, bridging cultural differences etc.
